Mash Tuns
Revival mash tuns are built to order and are based on the customers specific design specifications. If you are new to distilling, don't worry, we have you covered! Our engineers can direct you to a design most suited to the spirits you will be creating.
The type of mash tun you choose will depend on the type of spirit you intend to produce. A bourbon or rye whiskey will require a mash tun that can mix thick mash as well as heat the mash. A mash tun designed for single malt (Scotch) style whisky will have a flat bottom with screens and rakes for lautering.

Automation

Revival mashing systems are designed specifically for creating grain-in mash for distillation. With larger mixers and external heating jackets these mash tuns are designed to effectively heat thick bourbon and rye mashes. Automation options are also available for stepped mashing cycles. External cooling jackets can be applied to cool the mash in the mash tun before transfer to the fermenter. This eliminates the need for large hard to clean external shell and tube mash coolers.
For single malt (Scotch) style whiskeys, the mash tun is equipped with screens and a specialized mixer. The sugar-rich liquid that drains from the ports under the screens (wort) is then run through a heat exchanger before reaching the fermenter.
