Boilers and chillers can be significant expenses when planning a distillery. The amount of cooling necessary for a still is often underestimated. For a general rule of thumb, It is best to match your maximum heating rate to your maximum cooling rate. For example: if your pot still uses 300,000 BTU/hr during its heat up time, then your maximum cooling rate potential should be 300,000 BTU/hr. This demonstrates good engineering practice as it reduces the risk of over-powering your condenser/chiller and allowing dangerous vapors from escaping your condenser.  Contact us for additional engineering services and advice.
